BEIJING RAINSTORM DEATH TOLL REACHES THOUSANDS
Beijing recently suffered a fatal flood. Although the rain
dissipated a few days ago, the disaster is far from over that.
Victims are being discovered continuously. Despite Beijing's
releasing an official flood death toll of 37 on the internet,
people are questioning the ineffective rescue mission,
and doubt the true number of fatalities.
People have pointed out that in the Shidu District
Yesanpo, people were washed away, and the death toll is at least a few thousand.
Official Chinese media has reported that Beijing rainstorm
floods have caused more than 10 Billion Yuan in damages.
Ending at 17:00 on the July 22,
a total of 37 people lost their lives.
Although on the internet there have been messages
about seeking help in searching for people
and how many bodies have been found,
the released flood death toll has not been updated.
In the afternoon of the July 25, a Fangshan
District netizen recently posted in a forum.
The heavy rain has caused at least a few thousand deaths
on the Fangshan Huangguantun highway alone.
Hundreds of buses full of people were pulled out
from the water, which was more than ten meters deep.
The police were all along the highway, stop people
from taking pictures. The people could only look and sigh.
A message from a netizen on the morning of July 24
said the number of deaths has reached more than 1,000 in Yesanpo, Guangxia Village, Shidu District.
There is no information about other villages.
Shidu District, Xiaomin Courtyard: 'People are all washed
away in Yesanpo. We do not know how many have died.
Anyway, people have been washed away,
including visitors and local people.
People are buried in the water and stuck in the mud.'
Ms Gao in Fangshan District said during an interview with
NTD, that it is terrible in Fangshan District and Shidu District.
Except for a big stone boulder, all other things have
washed away. At least several thousand people died.
Ms. Gao: "The cars which were running close
by my house were washed into the ditch.
Big cars, family cars, all the people, and the kids
of the migrant workers were washed away.
If so, they will be dead. This includes our little village,
there are several thousand people dead.
Nobody takes care of the people
behind the mountain."
In Fangshan District, Dashiwo Town, Houshimen Village,
foot- thick sludge was left by receding flood waters.
'Do not save me, please save my child.'
We feel the shrill cries from Liu Yanping,
who sold bread in Shimen Village.
On July 21, when the water almost covered Liu Yanping's
neck, she held her 13 month-old baby over her head.
She shouted eagerly for people to save her child first.
Mr. Qin from Shidu District said that now nobody
can say how many people have died in this disaster.
They can only say how many
corpses are found in each location.
The true number will definitely
be beyond people's imagination.
Mr. Qin: "Within the 30 miles between Yidu and Yeshanpo,
the day before yesterday [July 24], 6 corpses were found.
Yesterday found 6 or 7. In Yeshanpo, 10 were found,
and on the other side, 10 were found.
Both the town and municipal
governments hide the truth."
On July 24, in most Fangshan District areas, the flood has
receded. It has damaged roads and crops. Ruins can be seen.
In the Hancunhe town's Dongnanzhang Village,
which is downstream of the flood, people are looking for friends and relatives' remains.
A video was uploaded on the internet called, "The Whole
Process of Fangshan Hancunhe Town Corpse Salvage".
In the video, the deceased's old father
is in tears, calling for his son.
The deceased's brother calls for his big brother in grief.
"Brother, I finally found you, Let us go home,'
echoed throughout the field.
Wang Jianxue Daciluo Village, Shilou town resident:
"We called 199, but nobody answered.
The next morning I started looking for my big brother.
I dug and dug whenever I see a pile of stones, and cut my finger.
My brother is still down there and waiting for me to save him.
But who cares about us!'
In Fangshan District, Ms. Gao said that when the flood
recedes, the Fangshan road was full of crying people.
Piles of cars were destroyed by the flood, with
five to eight stacked on top of each other, smashed.
Many netizens denounced the relevant departments.
In order to protect Beijing, water has been let out from
the reservoir, which flooded Shidu and Fangshan District.
But still there is no true report about the casualties.
Mainland lawyers pointed out that it is incompetent
and shameless to shift blame from man-made disasters to the natural disasters.
The Chinese regime is trying to dispel accountability online.
Netizens' postings on the true number
of deaths are frequently deleted.
There was a list forwarded by a large number of people,
