by a "Steven Coll", author of Ghost Wars: Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan, and Bin Laden, from the Soviet Invasion to September 10, 2001. He wrote extensive lecture notes on it then turned it into a paper to turn in for his class on Middle Eastern Studies. He said he went to bed and in the morning he found his computer rebooted and the paper had been permanently deleted as was his lecture notes and any 'history' trace to the website with the lecture.
He said he had a router between his computer and the University of Massachusetts internet connection.
He went right back, listened to the lecture again, and redid his paper. Then he copied it to a zipdisc. He thought it very scary that someone had hacked into his computer through a router in those few sleep hours. He thinks he had some key words or phrases that were probably flagged by Homeland Security or CIA.
