Starbucks made a lot of people unhappy the other day when they announced they would hire 10,000 refugees as if that somehow had something to do with the perfectly reasonable executive order that Donald Trump signed.
Millions of Americans were a little put off that Starbucks thought it was a good idea to take a subtle swipe at the President of the United States while simultaneously telling Americans they are silly to care about national security.
Well, another coffee company had something to say about all that.
From BizPac Review:
Black Rifle Coffee Company has announced plans to hire 10,000 veterans. Evan Hafer, the company’s founder and CEO, retweeted this meme:
Solid.
Obviously, there is nothing wrong with what Starbucks said if you look at it in a vacuum.
If they want to hire ten million refugees they can knock themselves out.
Also, Starbucks has hired a lot of veterans.
The problem is the timing and the disingenuous message they sent.
They are pretending that Trump is anti-refugee by making this statement immediately following a perfectly reasonable executive order that puts a temporary freeze on refugees from 7 countries that have extraordinarily serious problems with radical Islam.
If you aren’t able to separate refugees from the “refugees” who have committed atrocities across the globe then maybe politics isn’t your thing and you should just go watch the Oscars or something.
The media has fed into this ridiculous narrative that controlling our borders and increasing vetting is somehow the same thing as anti-Muslim or anti-refugee. It’s not. We are the most benevolent country in the world by a mile but that doesn’t mean we aren’t allowed to slow things down a little when it comes to immigration.
Starbucks knows that. They just hate Donald Trump too much to let facts get in the way.
Props to Black Rifle Coffee Company.
It’s about time the veterans get a little love.
