Documents recovered from the shredder of President Donald Trump's longtime lawyer Michael Cohen include handwritten notes concerning a taxi business, insurance papers and documents that prosecutors in New York already had in hand, BuzzFeed News reports.
Cohen is under investigation by federal prosecutors in Manhattan for his role in paying porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 before the election to keep her quiet about an affair she alleged to have with Trump. Prosecutors are also probing alleged violations of election law and possible financial crimes associated with Cohen's personal business dealings.
BuzzFeed obtained the shredded records from a source. The notes also include correspondence from a woman described in court filings as a "vexatious litigant," an invitation to a reception to meet business representatives from Qatar, insurance forms for an apartment and a copy of a $62,500 wire transfer made into a bank account controlled by Cohen.
The stash also includes letters from Karen Wickman, a writer who claimed that she was harassed and blackmailed by Trump in the late 1980s.
Trump cut ties with Cohen in May.
