Nancy Pelosi Had One Closed Door Meeting That Could Spell The End Of Her Career

Nancy Pelosi never saw it coming.
The San Francisco Democrat figured she would glide into the position of Speaker of the House.
But she just had the one meeting that could end her career.
Nancy Pelosi Receives An Unexpected Protest
Nancy Pelosi wanted to bask in the glow of the Democrats victory in the midterm election.
They won back the House for the first time since 2010.
But those plans went out the window.
200 youth activists stormed her office to demand Congress pass legislation to strangle the economy in the name of so-called “climate change.”
However, one protester set off national headlines.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – the Democrat Socialist who defeated the fourth-ranking House Democrat in the primary – joined the mob.
She explained why Congress should address the global warming hoax.
“We need a Green New Deal and we need to get to 100 percent renewables because our lives depend on it,” she explained in a gathering with reporters. “The IPCC themselves, they say we have 10 years left and I — not just as an elected member, but as a 29-year-old woman — am thinking not just about what we are going to accomplish in the next two years but the America that we’re going to live in in the next 30 years.”
Pelosi quickly put out a statement expressing her unity with the lunatic fringe protesters.
“We are inspired by the energy and activism of the many young activists and advocates leading the way on the climate crisis, which threatens the health, economic security and futures of all our communities,”her statement read. “I have recommended to my House Democratic colleagues that we reinstate a select committee to address the climate crisis. House Democrats ran on and won on our bold campaign for a $1 trillion investment in our infrastructure that will make our communities more resilient to the climate crisis, while creating 16 million new good-paying jobs across the country.”
Why This Protest Could End Pelosi’s Career
A running theme in the 2018 election was the number of Democrats refusing to say they would support Pelosi for Speaker.
Some reports put that number at over 50 Democrats running for the House who had pledged not to vote for Pelosi for Speaker.
Not all of them won.
But Democrats picked up at least 32 seats in the House.
That means Pelosi could lose fewer than 15 votes in a Speaker election and lose.
Many younger, more militant leftists like Ocasio-Cortez don’t believe Pelosi fights aggressively enough to turn America into a socialist state.
And they could withhold their support in the Speaker election.
Time Congressional Correspondent Alana Abramson tweeted that Ocasio-Cortez refused to endorse Pelosi for Speaker:
Ocasio-Cortez declines to answer when asked about whether she will support Nancy Pelosi after attending a sit-in in her office. Says that if there are multiple candidates she will look at the issues that define them. Right now there is only one candidate –Pelosi
Some Democrats believe the votes are there to defeat Pelosi.
Congressman Seth Moulton stated,“We’re getting more all the time, but we have enough.”
He added that he was “one percent” confident that anti-Pelosi Democrats had the votes to stop her.
