Democrats winning back the House of Representatives boosted the swamp’s desire to see Donald Trump impeached.

Maxine Waters expected to lead that effort.

But now Waters got some bad news that threw Democrats for a major loop.

Maxine Waters is set to chair the Financial Services Committee.

She planned to use that perch to launch endless investigations into Donald Trump’s finances and his business empire.

Waters hoped to dig into the latest conspiracy theory pushed by the fake news media that the Trump Organization received loans from Deutsche Bank.

This bank does business with the Russian government.

Fake news reporters believe Vladimir Putin laundered money through Deutsche Bank to the Trump Organization as part of the scheme to rig the 2016 election.

It’s the latest take on the Russian collusion hoax.

Waters was eager to abuse her power as chairwoman to sift through Trump’s finances.

But she just got some very bad news.

Democrats on the committee from the Northeast – who represent constituencies that are home to these banks – balked at her fishing expedition.

“The American people will understand thoughtful, well-grounded investigations,” said Connecticut Democrat Jim Himes. “But they will bridle at investigations that seem overtly political.”

“There are enough questions around Deutsche Bank that it’s worth getting some answers,” Himes declared. “But again, I think we’re going to need to make sure that we don’t get too carried away on investigations.”

New Jersey Democrat Josh Gottheimer also objected.

He claimed the committee, “ought to be able to walk and chew gum.”

New York Democrat Gregory Meeks explained the dangers Democrats face under Waters leadership.

“Unfortunately, sometimes you have people on Main Street who say let’s get rid of Wall Street, and you have Wall Street who’s insensitive to the needs of Main Street,” he said. “We’ve got to figure out how we can bring the two together — force the industry to be more transparent and open with Main Street and Main Street beginning to know and feeling that they’re not going to be taken advantage of by Wall Street.”

“The American people are sick and tired of politics,” he said. “What the Democrats have to do is have a robust policy agenda that concretely resonates with Main Street Americans, who care about their jobs and their wages and their retirements. There’s a good opportunity for more access to credit and housing reforms. Oversight’s important, but I just think we’ve got a broader responsibility.”

Nancy Pelosi okayed incoming committee chairs to launch up to 85 different investigations into Donald Trump.

But Maxine Waters’ conspiracy theories are so insane that the rest of the Trump-hating Democrats won’t sign off on them.

Waters is already a figure of great controversy.

She whipped up liberal mobs to terrorize Trump officials in public.

And she was demanding Trump’s impeachment months ago.

Democrats may want to sideline her investigations because Donald Trump loves nothing more than when an unhinged, left-wing loon like Waters becomes the face of the Democrat Congressional opposition.
