Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi walked into the White House and did the unthinkable.

No one had seen anything like it before.

And what Schumer and Pelosi did in the Oval Office took everyone’s breath away.

President Trump invited lawmakers – including Democrat Congressional leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi – to the White House for a briefing on border security with Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen.

Democrats shut down the government instead of providing the votes in the Senate necessary to fund President Trump’s proposed border wall.

Trump stayed behind in Washington over the Christmas holidays to negotiate a settlement to the standoff, but Pelosi jetted off to Hawaii for a vacation.

This White House meeting was the first sit down between the two party leaders since an early December televised gathering where Pelosi falsely claimed Trump did not have the votes in the House to pass 5 billion dollars in funding for the wall.

The White House meeting quickly went off the rails and Democrats had no interest in listening to a word Nielsen had to say.

The Daily Caller exclusively reports on Schumer and Pelosi’s extremely rude reaction to the border security briefing:

The White House official told TheDC that both Pelosi and Schumer refused to hear out Nielsen’s briefing and instead advocated for two solutions to end the government shutdown. Neither of the Democratic options would provide the additional funding for border security requested by The White House.

“Democrats in the room either don’t care that there is a humanitarian crisis on the border or just prefer ignorance. It was incredibly disheartening that they don’t want to know the facts when making policy,” DHS Spokeswoman Katie Waldman said in a statement to TheDC.

Representatives for Pelosi and Schumer did not respond to requests for comment.

Pelosi and Schumer’s dismissal of Nielsen trying to explain why the wall was necessary should not be surprising.

The incoming Speaker taped an interview with NBC’s ‘Today’ show where she flatly rejected any money for the wall and instead made a vague mention of “border security.”

“No, no. Nothing for the wall. We’re talking about border security,” Pelosi told the Today Show.

To her credit, NBC ‘Today’ host Savannah Guthrie asked Pelosi since the Democrats were not willing to meet Trump in the middle on border wall funding, why was the government shut down not the Democrats fault.

Pelosi’s incoherent answer left jaws on the ground.

“It has nothing to do with us. It has the president saying I will hold six agencies of government hostage to my campaign promise that I was going to build a wall, and that Mexico was going to pay for it,” Pelosi rambled. “That is so ridiculous … Mexico is not paying for it, A. And B, we have better use of funds to protect our border.”

Pelosi and Schumer’s posture and comments at this meeting suggest the shutdown will last for weeks – if not months.
