Chuck Schumer Realized it Was all Over When He Suffered This Giant Defeat

Chuck Schumer was blindsided by some very bad news.
The New York Democrat thought he and the Democrats were on a glide path to victory in the next election.
But Chuck Schumer realized it was all over when he suffered this giant defeat.
When gaming out the 2020 contest, Democrats thought they had a chance to walk out of the election holding the trifecta – keeping their House majority and winning both the Senate and the Presidency.
That had Democrats dreaming of passing a massive amnesty bill, a communist Soviet-style “global warming” reordering of the economy, and a 100 percent government takeover of health care.
But those dreams went up in smoke.
And it is largely due to Chuck Schumer’s failure.
Schumer tried to recruit John Hickenlooper, Stacey Abrams, Steve Bullock, and Beto O’Rourke to run for Senate in Colorado, Georgia, Montana, and Texas.
Hickenlooper and Bullock are former Governors who would have made strong candidates.
Abrams is a left-wing socialist that lost a close race to now-Governor Brian Kemp last November.
O’Rourke also lost a narrow election to Republican Senator Ted Cruz last year.
All four turned Schumer down.
Bullock, O’Rourke, and Hickenlooper all launched Presidential campaigns and Abrams is rumored to either enter the race this coming fall or seek a rematch with Kemp in 2022.
The last blow to Schumer was Dan McCready rejecting Schumer’s overtures to challenge Republican Senator Thom Tillis in favor of remaining in the special election this fall for North Carolina’s Ninth Congressional District.
McCready explained what happened in an interview with North Carolina local affiliate WCNC Charlotte.
“I did meet with him but I’ve also been very clear that I’m not running for the Senate,” McCready stated.
“I think it’s really important that the Democrats have a very strong nominee to challenge Thom Tillis.”
While it is true that Republicans are defending more Senate seats than Democrats in 2020, it does not mean the map is tilted in the Democrats favor.
Outside of Colorado, every competitive Senate race is being held in a state Donald Trump is expected to carry or stands a better-than-even chance of winning next year.
The fake news media presents an election landscape that is hopeless for Republicans and Donald Trump.
But the professional politicians – whose careers depend on their ability to survey the terrain and judge when it is favorable to their chances – are all taking a pass on the Senate.
What that tells many political observers is that Donald Trump is very likely to sweep all the right-leaning swing states next year – which include Iowa, Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina – as well as run strong in the red states like Montana and Texas.
Those coattails should be enough to carry any Republican Senate candidate to victory.
And that is why Chuck Schumer is striking out on the candidate recruitment front.
