After McConnell Shreds Pelosi’s Bill – Mitch Kicks Off A New Bill With Stimulus Checks And President Trump’s Requests

What’s Happening:
Even though a COVID relief bill was sent to President Trump’s desk, it was lacking some major provisions.
Congress was only giving Americans $600 payments, while shelling out billions for foreign countries.
The House was willing to up the payments, but they ignored Trump’s other concerns. In return, Mitch McConnell blocked a vote on the changes.
Now, he’s making sure Trump’s other requirements are being met. From Fox News:
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday introduced his own version of a bill to increase the $600 stimulus checks from the coronavirus relief package to $2,000, but also included two other major priorities for President Trump.
The legislation would also repeal Section 230, the controversial liability protection for online platforms, and create a committee on the Election Assistance Commission to study election integrity.
Spend-happy Democrats were all too willing to add higher payments in the COVID bill, but they ignored Trump’s other major concerns.
McConnell’s own bill includes the all-important Section 230 immunity repeal as well as the creation of a committee to oversee election integrity.
President Trump and many others have been calling on Congress to repeal Section 230. This provision gives social media sites immunity from lawsuits and other legal action caused by users’ content.
But as social sites became more like publishers, censoring conservative users, many agreed they should not enjoy this immunity. This addition to the bill is vital in preventing social networks from continuing their censorship.
The Election Assistance Commission will no doubt look into the 2020 Election—and future elections. It could lead to more transparency in how states conduct elections and perhaps even pass legislation preventing states from pushing policies that could lead to abuse.
You can see how both of these additions would be opposed by Democrats. The censorship from social networks almost exclusively affects Trump supporters and conservatives.
And why would Democrats want more transparency over elections—if they always seem to benefit from “irregularities” and other issues?
At least McConnell, and perhaps many Republicans, will support these additions.
Some are calling McConnell’s demands a “poison pill” to put an end to the stimulus hike, but others think it’s just an attempt to get real work done on Capitol Hill.
Do you support McConnell playing hardball with Pelosi?
