After Bill Barr Resigns, New Deputy AG Will Be Former Military Acquaintance of General Flynn

As we previously reported this afternoon, Attorney General Bill Barr has resigned from his position as AG. Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen is now the acting Attorney General and interestingly, Richard Donoghue, who served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division – the same military unit General Michael Flynn was part of, will serve as Deputy Attorney General, at least for now.
The president announced this on Twitter saying he and Bill Barr have a good relationship but he will be leaving to spend the holidays with his family. He also noted that Barr has done an “outstanding” job.

President Trump wasn’t too happy with William Barr when he announced the Justice Department hasn’t found any significant evidence of voter fraud, even when the president felt as though there was plenty out there.
Barr and the president did agree on most issues like law and order and the death penalty but when it came down to potential voter fraud, Barr seemed to have abanded President Trump, in the eyes of many.
An announcement released by the Justice Department from July of this year says this of Donoghue:
“Previously, from 2000 to 2011, Richard served as an AUSA in the Eastern District of New York, including serving as Chief of the Criminal Division and Chief of the Long Island Criminal Division. While at the office, he received the New York City Bar Association’s Henry L. Stimson Medal in 2007 and the Eastern District Association’s 2009 Charles E. Rose Award. Prior to that, he served on active duty in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, where he held positions including Military Magistrate Judge, Prosecutor, Defense Counsel, and Contract Litigator. He also served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.”
The interesting part to some is the 82nd Airborne Division is the same division the recently pardoned General Flynn formerly served. Flynn has been a big advocate for the president, especially this weekend at the “March for Trump Rally” in the capital. In a way, he kind of owes President Trump as well for the recent pardon he received but at the same time, he is likely a loyal ally of Donald Trump’s either way.
We will have to see if there are any big developments regarding the new AG and Deputy AG as the president doesn’t seem to plan on leaving if he can help it anyway.
