(BigLeaguePolitics) – Internal Documents Reveal Tyrannical ATF Views Americans Who Make Homemade Firearms as Criminals, Terrorists, and Violent Extremists It should come as no surprise that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is now expanding its definition of what constitutes a “terrorist” or an “extremist.”

Lee Williams, of the Truth About Guns , highlighted the ATF’s latest ploy to drum up anti-gun fear-mongering. This centers around the perceived bugaboo of “privately made firearms” (PMFs).

Towards the end of June, the Joint Counterterrorism Assessment Team (JCAT) published an ATF document titled “First Responder Awareness of Privately Made Firearms May Prevent Illicit Activities.”

“JCAT is a collaboration by the NCTC, DHS and FBI to improve information sharing among federal, state, local, tribal, territorial governments and private sector partners, in the interest of enhancing public safety,” the document spelled out. “This product is NOT in response to a specific threat against the United States. It provides general awareness of, considerations for, and additional resources related to terrorist tactics, techniques and procedures, whether domestic or overseas.”

The ATF and JCAT believe that homemade firearms are part of a broader set of “terrorist tactics, techniques and procedures” despite the fact that Americans have engaged in assembling firearms within the confines of their homes all the way back to the colonial era – predating the foundation of the nation.

Williams observed that “The document was never supposed to be leaked to the media or the public, and is exempt from discovery through the federal Freedom of Information Act, but some freedom-loving soul published it online yesterday despite its ominous warning.”

The document warned about the sensitive information it contained and advised that it not be released to the public:

WARNING: This document is UNCLASSIFIED//FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY. Do not release to the public, the media, or other personnel who do not have a valid need to know without prior approval from NCTC, DHS, or the FBI. This document may contain US Person information deemed necessary for the intended recipient to understand, assess, or act on the information provided. Additionally, this document may contain information exempt from public release under the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 552).

“Criminals and violent extremists continue to seek ways to acquire firearms through the production of privately made firearms (PMFs),” the ATF’s document asserted. “PMF awareness and identification can aid PMF recovery, prevention of illicit activities including terrorism, and overall first responder and public safety.”

The ATF did show some self-awareness by noting that it has to tread lightly with its activities out of fear that it would be involved in another Waco or Ruby Ridge style incident that gets it placed under the microscope of public scrutiny.

“NOTE: Many of the activities described herein may involve Constitutionally protected activities and may be insignificant on their own. Action should not be taken solely based on the exercise of Constitutionally protected rights.”

With David Chipman nominated to head the ATF, the stakes are higher than ever. The guy is a seasoned gun grabber who has worked for gun control organizations such as Giffords and Everytown for Gun Safety. With him at the helm, the ATF will be over-reaching at every opportunity it gets.

Americans are buying firearms and ammo at unprecedented levels, indicating that they’re not fully onboard with the radical anti-gun fantasies of the ruling class. The ATF embodies the distant nature of gun controllers, who now have to rely on unaccountable bureaucracies and their administrative procedures, as opposed to legislative means, to see through their agenda.

This is just another reason why the ATF should be abolished.
