ANOTHER CRACK IN THE DAM?
Dudley Brown - National Gun Rights
I've got bad news.
There's a developing anti-gun scheme in the U.S. House that some Republican lawmakers hope you won't notice.
And the situation is deteriorating -- fast.
Last week, a subcommittee led by Republican Congressman Frank Wolf (VA-10) rammed through $55 million to help strip more law-abiding Americans of their right to keep and bear arms.
It gets worse.
The $55 million of your tax dollars could be rubber-stamped by Republican Chairman Hal Rogers' (KY-5) Appropriations Committee hearing tomorrow morning.
The money would be distributed back to the states as grants to help "upgrade" reporting to the National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) System.
In other words, an incentive for gun control.
This money is part of billionaire-playboy New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's scheme to coerce states into digging up virtually any reason they can to deny you your gun rights.
They would then forward whatever they find to the FBI for inclusion in the NICS system.
All of this is under the ruse of trying to funnel more "mental health records" into the system.
As you know, Bloomberg would love nothing more than to find and label as many gun owners like you "crazy."
And if the Appropriations Committee signs off on this money tomorrow, they just might get that chance.
Now, Bloomberg and his group, M.A.I.G., have praised Congressman Frank Wolf for allowing the money to flow, noting it was a substantial increase.
In fact, it's a massive increase.
This $55 million lump-sum would more than double the entire amount of federal grants aimed at beefing up the nationwide no-gun black list since the program started receiving funds in 2009.
Many individuals affected by having their name forwarded to NICS have committed no crime and have been afforded little to no due process.
But the gun-grabbers believe the groundwork has already been laid to classify as many Americans as possible as mentally unstable, including:
>>> News reports that nearly 30% of the nearly 900,000 Iraq and Afghanistan War vets treated by the Department of Veterans Affairs have been diagnosed with PTSD! This is in addition to the hundreds of thousands of vets who have already been “rewarded” for serving their country with the loss of their gun rights;
>>> New estimates by the World Health Organization that roughly one in five American youngsters will have some sort of mental health problem every year;
>>> Estimates by U.S. Surgeon General Steven Galson that 46.4% of Americans experience some sort of mental illness during their lives!
To the gun-grabbers, disarming up to 50% of the American population by declaring them “crazy” without ever going through a trial sounds like a dream come true!
As far too many of our veterans already know first hand, once your name is in the NICS database, getting it off is virtually impossible.
But this funding will help them vastly expand the number of names funneled into the system regardless of who was afforded due process and who was not.
Will House Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, and Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers let this money flow?
Capitol Hill sources are warning me the answer might be yes.
That’s why I’m counting on your action.
You and I both know what’s at stake here.
Please take a moment to do these THREE things:
1.) Contact House Appropriations at (202) 225-2771.
Chairman Hal Rogers can be reached at (202) 225-4601.
If his number is busy, you can also try:
*** Rep. C.W. Bill Young, FL-13: (202) 225-5961
*** Rep. Tom Latham, IA-3: (202) 225-5476
*** Rep. Jack Kingston, GA-1: (202) 225-5831
Urge them to oppose expanding NICS state grant funding. Insist they strike this $55 million at once.
2.) Click here to contact YOUR Member of Congress.
3.) Give Congressman Frank Wolf an earful for cooperating with Mayor Bloomberg and his gun-grabbing cronies.
He can be reached at (202) 225-5136.
The full Appropriations Committee is scheduled to mark-up the bill tomorrow morning.
Time is of the essence, so do not wait.
Please act right away.
For Freedom,
Dudley Brown
Executive Vice President
