OBAMA CHAMBERS EXECUTIVE ORDERS ON GUN CONTROL
Douglas Ernst
President Obama has asked White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett to supply him with new executive orders on gun control “in short order.”
Jarrett confirmed Obama’s plans while speaking at a vigil for victims of the Dec. 12, 2012, shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, by 20-year-old Adam Lanza, the Associated Press reported.
Six adults and 20 children were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School before Lanza committed suicide. He also executed his mother in their home earlier that day.

“At this point, I still don’t have an update on the progress the administration is making on scrubbing the rules,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters during his daily briefing, the Hill reported.
The White House plans to close what it calls the “gun show loophole,” which allegedly allows criminals to circumvent background checks through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS.
In short, Obama wants background checks on as many private transfers of firearms as possible. He may do that by attempting to change the definition of what constitutes a high-volume dealer.
The president’s critics counter:
The vast majority of prisoners convicted of gun crimes obtained their weapons through theft.
Many crimes are committed by individuals who steal weapons from family members, as demonstrated by Sandy Hook shooter Lanza.
Criminals often obtain weapons from straw purchasers, which background checks cannot prevent.
“The ‘gun-show loophole’ is an exaggeration designed to foster the false impression that this is how the bad guys acquire firearms. A 2001 Justice Department survey found 0.7 percent of state and federal prison inmates bought their weapons at a gun show,” wrote Emily Miller for the Washington Times Jan. 30, 2013. “The vast majority of vendors at the shows are fully licensed dealers who must run the FBI check at the time of sale. What the gun grabbers are really after are transactions between private individuals trading or selling their personal property.”
Obama’s attempt to fast-track executive orders on gun control come just one week after he asked elected officials to craft and pass bills through the legislative process.
“I do think that, as the [San Bernardino terror] investigation moves forward, it’s going to be important for all of us – including our legislatures – to see what we can do to make sure that when individuals decide that they want to do somebody harm, we’re making it a little harder for them to do it. Because right now it’s just too easy,” Obama said Dec. 3 from the White House.
This infallible argument for armed self-defense presents real stories of Americans fighting back against criminals – and surviving because they were armed. “America Fights Back: Armed Self-Defense In A Violent Age” is a must-read for anyone who has ever wondered if concealed carry can actually save and protect.
The president’s remarks were in response to the Dec. 2 Islamic terror attacks in San Bernardino, California, that killed 14 and wounded 21. Islamic radicals Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and his wife Tashfeen Malik, 27, died in a shootout with cops following their rampage at the Inland Regional Center.
