CSPOA SOLUTION TO SCHOOL SHOOTINGS
CSPOA Agrees, It’s Time to Do Something About School Shootings
As the clamoring to “do something” about school shootings grows louder and more shrill, CSPOA must agree. And the national board has put together this list of desired actions, some of them involving legislation. The list is simple but will be effective if done across the US in every state and locality.
We support repeal of gun-free school zone laws nationwide including federal laws.
We support the training and arming of volunteer faculty at schools to carry concealed weapons. Once trained, these Americans, who have a vested interest in protecting schools and school children, can bring an end to a shooting spree with planned concerted action.
Where legislators fail to change laws to allow these defenders in the schools, we support the county sheriffs using their authority in training and deputizing faculty so they will be considered law enforcement and thus be qualified to carry concealed at the school. Citizens, especially parents, should demand their children be protected at school.
Rick Dalton, CSPOA Legislative Liaison, said, “As a retired police officer, forearms instructor, and retired school teacher, I know that more anti-gun legislation will not get the good guys with guns to the scene any faster. Our proposals will ensure that good guys with guns will already be on scene and ready to stop intruders.”
The small details of solutions in different states will have to be worked out, and educators will have to be brought into the discussions.
