In an attempt to capitalize on the White House’s latest endorsement of gun control, the House Judiciary Committee is back at it this week with another gun control hearing.

 

That’s why NAGR Vice President Zach Lautenschlager and Senior Political Director Ryan Flugaur are back on Capitol Hill to meet with key House and Senate staff.

 

Unfortunately, Republican Senator Pat Toomey is once again pushing Obama-era gun control -- some of you may remember the Toomey-Manchin bill of 2013 -- the same bill backed by President Obama and then-Vice President Biden.

 

And while many Republicans have already pledged their support for increased gun control, the resurgence of Senator Toomey’s gun registration bill has many Senators reconsidering voting for these unconstitutional schemes.

 

Remember, the Toomey-Manchin gun control bill would create a ban on private firearm sales, create a registry of virtually every gun sale in the country, and make it illegal to buy or sell a gun without first obtaining permission from the federal government.

 

That’s why we are back on the Hill this morning meeting with key Senate staff.

If the resurrected Toomey-Manchin bill passes, detailed information about all gun transactions will be captured and funneled into the Brady-NICS gun registry.

 

It’s the perfect scheme to convince weak-kneed Republicans in the Senate to vote for the long-standing Democrat anti-gun agenda.

 

But unfortunately, we all know this is nothing more than the first step in their plan to pass outright gun confiscation down the road.

 

The anti-gun crowd knows that once every gun owner in the country is compiled into one big database, it will be easier to track down anyone who has been “Red Flagged” without a trial.

 

But while Republican leadership in the Senate is trying to cave to the Left’s anti-gun demands, a growing number of Senators are changing their tune.

 

We can win this fight if we keep up the pressure.
