Thanks to the efforts of NAGR supporters like you, the vote on anti-gun ATF Director nominee Chuck Canterbury is stalled.

From the moment he was nominated back in May, I asked pro-gun patriots like you to contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and urge them to oppose Canterbury’s confirmation to become the next ATF Director.

Canterbury has a lengthy, and sordid, anti-gun rap sheet.

In July, Canterbury got a cage-rattling he didn’t see coming when he took his seat before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

ATF Director Hearing - Canterbury dodges questions

Although Canterbury did his best to fend off tough questions regarding his long history of gun control advocacy, multiple Senators refused to let him off the hook.

Politically speaking, Canterbury left the hearing bruised and battered.

Pro-gun Senators were informed and ready to call out Canterbury on his troubling anti-gun positions, thanks to grassroots lobbying.

Catching him flatfooted on topics such as:

*** His support of radical anti-gun Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.1

*** His support of former Attorney General Eric Holder -- Obama’s head honcho who ran the deadly “Fast and Furious” gun running program.2

*** His support of expanding the federal government’s gun registration scheme and opposing Constitutional Carry legislation.3

In fact, it quickly became clear these Senators were pulling their questions directly from the email I sent you just before the hearing.

Which means your phone calls worked!

Canterbury’s chances of becoming the director of the ATF are now extremely unlikely because, his confirmation vote, which was supposed to take place last week, was abruptly canceled.

Several Republican Senators stated they will not vote for Canterbury due to his history of gun control advocacy.

“I just think that his record on the Second Amendment is really, really concerning.” --Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO)4

And Senators Lee (R-UT), Kennedy (R-LA), and Sasse (R-NE) are also standing in opposition to Canterbury’s confirmation.5

Although we aren’t 100% in the clear, Canterbury does not have the votes necessary to advance out of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Patrick, the derailment of Chuck Canterbury’s path to confirmation is just one example of the power our pro-gun grassroots movement possesses.

By signing petitions, contributing money, and contacting your lawmakers -- you made a tremendous difference in the fight to preserve our Second Amendment rights.

Your activism turned the tide.

That is why I hope you will take a moment to donate to NAGR today to help us keep all gun grabbers out of office and all gun control legislation where it belongs -- the trash can.

P.S. Thanks to the activism of NAGR members like you, Chuck Canterbury’s history of gun control advocacy is exposed.

And now the U.S. Senate has canceled his confirmation hearing.

Canterbury’s dreams of leading the ATF are looking very unlikely -- but we must stay vigilant and lobby Senators in opposition to his confirmation.

So please click here to chip in to help NAGR defeat all gun grabbers and gun control.
