Please see the attached which I drafted and sponsored last year to begin protecting Georgians in this regard. A small step. The Resolution did not pass and more should be done, especially at the national level.

A RESOLUTION

1 Urging state and local officers and employees and members of the Georgia National Guard

2 and State Defense Force not to assist or cooperate with the armed forces of the United States;

3 and for other purposes.

4 WHEREAS, H.R. 1540 of the 112th Congress, the "National Defense Authorization Act for

5 Fiscal Year 2012" which provides for appropriations for the armed forces for Fiscal Year

6 2012, provides, in Section 1021, "Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect existing

7 law or authorities relating to the detention of United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of

8 the United States, or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United States";

9 and

10 WHEREAS, the idea of detaining natural born citizens of this country under military

11 jurisdiction is repugnant to the citizens of this state.

12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body

13 encourage state and local officers and employees and members of the Georgia National

14 Guard and State Defense Force not to assist or cooperate with the armed forces of the United

15 States if such aid would, in the opinion of the responsible individual, place any Georgia

16 authority in violation of the United States Constitution, the Constitution of Georgia, any

17 provision of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, any Act of the General Assembly, or

18 any rule, regulation, or ordinance of a state agency or authority, political subdivision, or local

19 authority.

20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed

21 to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution the public and the press.

 

 

 

All, thanks to Lamar Cheatham, Madison Forum Member, for the below information and link.  As you watch the video, think about the passage of the NDAA for both 2012 and 2013, which provides for the arrest and apprehension of American citizens without warrants or the opportunity to have a lawyer and to go before a judge (habeas corpus), and then be held indefinitely anywhere with anyone not knowing where you are. 

 

When I ran for Congress in Georgia's 11th District, I spoke on the dangers of the NDAA, and the fact that all of Georgia's Representatives voted for it with the exception of one.  Everyone should check the voting record of their congressional representative to see who voted for against our constitutional rights.   Several States have now introduced legislation nullifying the NDAA sections 1021 & 1022 in their states.  Georgia has not yet done so.  The clear danger of the NDAA is one of the reasons I ran for Congress in Georgia's 11th District.  Citizens need to know the details of the legislation enacted in Washington.  Some of it is a clear and present danger to us all ... and now they want to take our guns.  The dots have been connected, and it is not a pretty picture.
