States Fight Back: Louisiana & Texas pass Federal Gun Control Nullification Acts
A showdown between the federal government and the States is heating up, as two more States join Kansas in passing Federal Gun Control Nullification Acts.
Late last week we reported how the federal government was threatening the State of Kansas with Federal action after the State passed a bill that banned federal authorities from violating resident’s second amendment rights. Now two more states have joined Kansas in an attempt to take back their state sovereignty, and tell the Feds they have no right attempting to take away anyone’s 2nd Amendment rights.
Louisiana Joins the Fight:
Yesterday, the Louisiana State House of Representatives approved a bill that will nullify federal gun control measures on any guns made and sold within the state. The bill, which is very similar to what Kansas passed, makes any firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition manufactured in Louisiana exempt from federal law or federal regulations.
House Bill 45 (HB45) will exempt firearms manufactured and remaining in the state of Louisiana from federal law, federal taxation, federal regulation, and federal registration. It passed through the State House of Representatives by a vote of 75-20.
The bill now moves on to the State Senate.
Don’t Mess with Texas: Texas approves federal gun control nullification bill.
Texas joined the fight after they approved a bill that denies the enforce of almost all federal gun control measures.
Texas House Bill 928 (HB928), which was approved today by a vote of 102-31, will nullify just about every gun control bill the federal government has ever enacted, including any future gun control bills. It even includes penalties for any local government that refuse to follow the proposed law.
HB928 has been sent over to the State Senate for final approval. If approved without amendment, the bill will be sent to Governor Perry for his signature.
