4) Musab al-Zarqawi is being blamed for the beheading (somehow the CIA claims to be able to identify him positively even though he is wearing a hood and the video is of very poor quality). However, according to the Associated Press on March 4, al-Zarqawi was killed in a bombing raid.

The holes in the US governmemt's story are huge.

Let's consider another scenario:

1) Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the executives from Haliburton needed a PR offensive to counteract the negative press they've been getting over their beating, humiliating, and raping Iraqi people.

2) They needed something graphic to counteract the torture photos, preferably something that they could use to whip up racist anti- Iraqi, anti-Muslim hysteria.

3) Not only would the beheading provide this PR opportunity for the warmongers, it would also be a hit" on someone the right wing had publically listed on their "hit list."

We don't know for sure who was holding the knife, but this does seem like another one of those perfectly-timed incidents that happened just when the Pentagon needed it. (Remember the staged "rescue" of Jessica Lynch when the war was not going well last year).

Bush Administration to Blame for Death of Nick Berg Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld Brought Death, Destruction, and Torture to Iraq

May 11. 2004--The International Action Center considers Nick Berg a victim of the war that the Bush administration planned, conspired, lied to justify and carried out in violation of U.S. and international law. We hold the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld group responsible for this tragedy, just as we hold them responsible for the death and suffering of tens of thousands of Iraqis and of over 700 U.S. soldiers and marines.

We feel sympathy for the Berg family for the grief they are going through. This is real sympathy for real grief. But we consider the words from the White House that claim to express sympathy and grief to be cynical lies just like the lies about "weapons of mass destruction" that were used to justify this illegal war. We do not know who was really behind Nick Berg's death. But we know that the Bush administration and the Pentagon created the situation that caused him to lose his life. They have brought mass murder to Iraq. And the victims also include people like Nick Berg and like thousands of innocent Iraqis that have done nothing to deserve their fate.
