Israel Lost the War and Did Not Achieve Its Objectives, Lebanese President
"Lebanon was surprised by the American-French draft Resolution because it did not include any point mentioned in the government plan supported by the whole of the Lebanese people," he said. He underlined that "the decision, made by the government, to send 15,000 soldiers to southern Lebanon will help the amendment of this draft".
Lahoud explained that "sending such a number of soldiers is a guarantee presented by Lebanon", calling for the "return of the refugees, the number of which exceeds 1 million".
In an answer related to the position of military resistance (Hezbollah) on this subject, Lahoud said that it is "part of the government and it has given its acceptance".
“The preparations for sending Lebanese soldiers to the South started at the beginning of the aggression against Lebanon,” he added.
The Lebanese president did not exclude the possibility of asking for compensations from Israel for the damage it has been causing since the outbreak of violence.
