Russian flotilla heads for Mediterranean

The U.S. George Bush aircraft carrier has approached Syrian waters, the Arab Al Jazeera TV channel reports. The Pentagon has refused to confirm the report but admitted that the ship is in the Mediterranean in what analysts see as part of preparations for a possible no-fly zone over Syria.

Meanwhile, a Russian flotilla led by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier is heading for the Mediterranean. It will drop anchor at the Syrian port of Tartus.
The Russian Navy says the flotilla has nothing to do with the anti-government protests in Syria.
