Obama's ex-bodyguard losing health coverage

'My plan was canceled, simple as that'
President Obama repeatedly has promised that no one will lose his health insurance because of Obamacare, declaring, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.”
Media fact checkers were doubtful, and all the way back in 2009 PolitiFact gave it a “half true” rating. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, it could be time now to change that to “pants on fire” or even a retroactive “lie of the year.”
Among those with evidence Obama wasn’t telling the truth is Dan Bongino, a former member of the Secret Service’s elite Presidential Protective Division.
That’s because he is losing his coverage due to Obamacare.
“My plan was canceled, simple as that,” he told WND.
Bongino, author of the upcoming book “Life Inside the Bubble: Why a Top-Ranked Secret Service Agent Walked Away From It All,” believes that there are only two explanations for why Obama is not telling the truth to the American people.
He said either Obama “was completely ignorant of the ramifications of his own policies or he wasn’t ignorant and he understood the whole time that hundreds of thousands of Americans were going to lose their healthcare plan.”
He explained how he ended up losing the health care plan that met his family’s needs.
“I had CareFirst through the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program while I was in the Secret Service. I loved CareFirst, so when I resigned from the Secret Service, not retired, that’s the key, when I resigned, I was not eligible for the FEHB anymore. If I had retired, I would’ve been,” Bongino stated.
“But I liked CareFirst so much, that they enabled us to pay for CareFirst through their private plan, just like any other small business owner or individual market customer would. So, we transferred to a private plan with nothing to do with the government. It was a great plan until President Obama stuck his nose underneath my door and got himself involved in my personal insurance situation. Now the plan is no longer available.”
Bongino told WND that a truncated version of the plan is still available through the Affordable Care Act, but the cost of it is significantly higher than his original plan.
“For the Bronze Plan, the lowest of all the plans, our premium went up by 20 percent, our co-pay went from nothing to $30, our co-insurance went from 25 to 30 [percent], and our deductible, for each individual, doubled and for the entire family tripled,” he said.
“And here’s the kicker, all to buy options we don’t need and don’t want. Like substance abuse treatment – I was a Secret Service agent, this isn’t ‘Weeds’ on Showtime; maternity care, hey that’s great, but we’re not having anymore children. So, they’re going to literally bankrupt their small business to make us buy stuff and shove down our throats insurance for things we will never need to be insured for,” he said.
Bongino believes Obamacare is “liberal compassion at its finest.”
He says he’s not quite sure how much his monthly payments will rise, because he, like many millions of American, has had a difficult time accessing the Affordable Health Care website. He estimates that his monthly payments could increase by over $200, and he believes it’s plain to see that the president’s health care law is having a devastating effect on the average American.
“Obamacare is literally destroying checkbooks. If you were fairly in the black in this devastating economy, you are now in the red,” Bongino believes.
His post on Facebook that showed the letter he received from the insurer letting him know his plan was no longer available was seen by over 300,000 people and was shared over 3,000 times. He said people responded with similar letters of their own informing them that they had lost their health insurance as well.
To be released Nov. 19 by WND Books, his “Life Inside the Bubble: Why a Top-Ranked Secret Service Agent Walked Away From It All” is a look at life inside the presidential “bubble,” a haze of staffers, consultants, cronies, acolytes, bureaucrats and lobbyists that creates the “alternate reality” in which monumental policy decisions are made.
And it is the story of a dedicated Secret Service professional who, after years inside the “bubble,” walked away in favor of sounding a clarion call to the American people in defense of sane government and the U.S. Constitution.
Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity praised the book as “a rare peek inside the DC ‘Bubble’ which should be a wake-up call to every American.”
And former congressman and U.S. Army Col. Allen West says, “Dan Bongino walked away because he is an American patriot and the embodiment of the highest
standards of honor, integrity and character … exactly what we need inside the bubble.”
Starting his career in law enforcement with the NYPD in 1995, Bongino joined the ranks of the Secret Service in 1999 as a special agent, where he was assigned to investigate financial crimes.
In 2006, he entered into duty with the elite Presidential Protective Division in the administration of President George W. Bush. He remained on protective duty during the change in administration to President Barack Obama. He resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 to run for a U.S. Senate seat in Maryland.
