An explosive fact has come to light: the common cold could cause a positive COVID antibodies test. On their website, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) posted on its "Test for Past Infection (Antibody Test)" page:

If you test positive

• A positive test result shows you may have antibodies from an infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. However, there is a chance a positive result means that you have antibodies from an infection with a virus from the same family of viruses (called coronaviruses), such as the one that causes the common cold. (emphasis added)

This means the common cold could lead to a positive antibodies test result for COVID-19, even if the patient never had been exposed to or contracted COVID-19.

Fact-checking the fact-checkers

When USA Today (also covered by MSN) attempted to discredit this bombshell revelation, they exposed their own lack of understanding of how these numbers are being manipulated.

I explained in a past email that the CDC was caught conflating and combining positive case numbers for both active cases of COVID-19 and positive tests for having antibodies to COVID-19 (and now even possibly the common cold) and classifying them all as new positive test results for COVID-19!

The Atlantic already reported this regarding multiple states around the country... "The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conflating the results of two different types of coronavirus tests, distorting several important metrics and providing the country with an inaccurate picture of the state of the pandemic. We've learned that the CDC is making, at best, a debilitating mistake: combining test results that diagnose current coronavirus infections with test results that measure whether someone has ever had the virus" (emphasis added).

This fact was conveniently omitted from the paid-for-by-Facebook fake fact-checkers' article. This destroys the credibility of these so-called fact-checkers who completely ignored published, well-known conflation in the reporting of these two different tests

It also undermines any remaining credibility of the "new case" numbers.

Yet, these discredited numbers are exactly what many governors are using to put their states back on lockdown ... and to force businesses to become unwilling enforcers of arbitrary mask policies and any other whims these governors might have. In fact, tracking tests show that it might just be a person having had the common cold and now being immune to a specific variety of the common cold.
