Arizona is very friendly to gun-owners. According to GunsToCarry.com, Arizona gun laws operate at the state level, meaning any person of at least 18 years or older can legally open carry, and anyone at least 21 years old can conceal carry a firearm without a permit.
The state has strong Castle Law doctrines for home invasions. According to Arizona CCW:
The following conditions must apply if the Castle Doctrine is to be used in claiming justifiable homicide:
The intruder must be attempting to or have made unlawful and forcible entry into an occupied home, business or vehicle.
The occupants must have a reasonable belief that the intruder is entering with the intention of committing a felony crime such as burglary.
The occupants must have a reasonable belief that they are in danger of serious injury or death at the hands of the intruder.
The occupants must be innocent of any provocation and cannot have instigated the intrusion or initiated the event by a threat of deadly force.
In Arizona, a person is legally able to “stand their ground” in the face of an attack and is under no obligation to retreat prior to using deadly force in self-defense.

Woman dead and three injured in home invasion
YUMA, Ariz. - A woman was killed and three people were injured in what deputies said was a home invasion in the 3800 block of East County 18 1/2 Street early Thursday morning.
Guillermo is a nearby resident who heard the alleged intruders early Thursday morning.
"We were asleep and we heard a knocking at 1:25 a.m., 30 minutes later, a spotlight went by the window and flashes of vehicles," Guillermo said.
Those flashes according to Guillermo were Sheriff officers rushing to the home that had been broken into.
One of the calls to 911 came from the home that got broken into, according to Alfonso Zavala with the Yuma County Sheriffs Office.
"The homeowner was woken up by some noise outside shortly after the subject made entry into the home, the occupant fired multiple rounds striking all four subjects," said Zavala.
KYMA spoke with many residents who say the calm and quiet neighborhood isn't used to crime.
One neighbor, who wanted to remain unnamed told KYMA that the man protecting his home first warned the alleged intruders that someone was home by flickering his lights before he opened fire.
The homes back door remains broken and the window next to it smashed.
