Spirit Is The Center Of Man
23/07/2005.
"Most people seek to nourish themselves on everything but what is essential. They spend their lives in pursuits which provide nothing for their soul or spirit. You will tell me, of course, that the soul and spirit cannot really participate in the ordinary activities of everyday life, nor in those that allow us to earn a living. First of all, this is not necessarily the case. In the second place, what do people do when they come home from work or have free time? What do they spend their time doing or talking about, what leisure activities or pastimes do they engage in? They do nothing reprehensible, perhaps, but they waste time and energy in useless pursuits. When at last they learn to build in themselves something solid and stable around this centre known as their spirit, everything they do, even their leisure activities, will go towards nourishing the life within them. The spirit which lives in man does not reject the liver, the intestines or the feet, claiming they are not organs or members as noble as itself. Each has its place, and the spirit makes use of them all, but it remains at the centre. It is because spirit remains at the centre that man is alive."
